Google Map

This issue was affecting one of our IT Support customers in Bicester, Oxfordshire. They were using Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers on a 2020 Mac Mini computer with M1 Processor and macOS Ventura 13.3 Operating System. Zooming in and out on Google and other maps (Bing, Strava, etc.) using the mouse wheel resulted in very fast and rough motion making these web pages somewhat unusable. Interestingly, Apple’s own Safari web browser didn’t have this issue and was working just fine.

The issue was resolved by enabling Hardware Acceleration in browser settings. In both, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge this is located in: Settings > System > Use hardware acceleration when available.

You’ll need to restart the browser for changes to take effect.
